Before we jump into what the dos & don’ts of makeup, let’s make sure you’re getting your skin to look its best prior to makeup application. The biggest thing I notice in my clients as they age is dryness. Skin loses hydration as we age so we need to combat that by incorporating a moisture-intense face cream. My go to? OLAY! I seriously LOVE their skincare and not only does it work, but it’s affordable. They have a lot of different lines to choose from but if you’re looking for intense hydration, grab their Collagen Peptide 24 Max Face Moisturizer.
- Don’t cake your face with heavy foundation and/or concealers.
Do mix your heavier foundations with your favorite hydrating moisturizer to give you a light, dewy complexion.
*Pro Tip: Mix your eye cream with a dab of concealer to help avoid creasing in the fine lines around your eyes. Try OLAY’s Collagen Peptide 24 MAX Eye Cream - Don’t use heavy powders or “bake” your skin.
Do use translucent setting powders to set your face without the crepiness. - Don’t use pinky shades of blush on the middle of your cheeks.
Do use peachy tones of blush from the apples of your cheeks and upwards towards your temples. - Don’t use black eyeliners to line your bottom lashline!
Do use black eyeliner on the inner rim of your top eyelid (tight-lining) - Don’t use matte or thick lipsticks!
Do dab on a moisturizing creamy lipstick with a shiny finish in a peachy or berry shade.
*Pro Tip: Apply chapstick to lips, than using your finger press some lip color on top of the chapstick for a flushed and natural look
