Contouring Tutorial

Alright guys. Contouring doesn’t mean spending loads of time drawing swirly floral designs all over your face. (seriously YouTubers, just stop.) The art of contouring is all about manipulating light and shadow. Creating depth with darker shades of makeup can help to define certain features. Want those chiseled cheekbones? Swipe a dark contour color from the ear to the center of the cheek and blend, blend, blend!

In this video I give you the basic contour of the face. Hope this helps ya’ll!

Valentine’s Looks on ABC 4!

I had so much fun playing with makeup back on my favorite show, Good Things Utah! In this segment I focused on how you can take your Day-Makeup to Date Night-Makeup with just a few steps.

Let’s talk Lashes!
Lashes can make the biggest difference in your makeup look. Sometimes they can be intimidating, but trust me, they are worth it! My favorite go-to lashes are by Kiss! You can grab them at Walmart or any drugstore. While you’re there, grab the Kiss Aloe Lash Glue in Black. It’s an easy-to-use glue that is infused with aloe and is gentle on your natural lashes.

Tween Beauty
Moving on to my baby girl, Lillybug, who joined me on set today to model how tweens can sport a fresh Valentine’s Look too! Using the NEW Love You First Line of Cosmetics from RealHer Makeup, just launched at Target! Safe, clean makeup with a Positive Marketing Message! Win-Win!

Using the Real Her – Define Your Own Beautiful Palette we dove into the black to give viewers a tutorial on how you can add some intensity to your eye makeup!

RED Lippy
We closed the show by sporting red lips using the Real Her “I’m Fabulous” Kit. Such a great kit! It has a liner, liquid matte lipstick & my fave, the gloss!

Hooded Eyelid Video Tutorial

The Hooded Lid – Not Anymore!

One of my biggest concerns when it comes to the eyes is the Hooded Eyelid! Such a pet peeve. It makes me look tired, angry, or both! Doesn’t matter how much sleep I get, I wake up with my eyes feeling heavy and I have to constantly lift my brows up in order to properly see. LOL!

So what can those of us who have been genetically gifted these heavy lids do about it? Well, there is a surgical option for those that are having complications with being able to see clearly ( I believe this surgery will be in my future). It’s called Blepharplasty. You can look into if you wish, but I’m not here to talk about that route today.

Today I’ve got some quick tips on how you can minimize the appearance of your dreaded hooded lid!

SOS Winter! Skincare Must Haves

Winter is approaching – the days are getting shorter, the nights longer and the thermometer starts showing negative. The weather is no more a friend, but a frenemy. It’s cozy at home with a blanket and a cup of tea, but once outside our skin screams! It’s time to keep a sweater or fleece blanket at hand – and switch up your cosmetic drawer with something more substantial.

SOS Winter! In the begging of winter, the skin needs different care solutions and formulations other than in summer, since the humidity in heated rooms is significantly lower. This leads to dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin. But why? The so-called hydro-lipid layer of the skin, which acts as a natural protective shield, gets out of balance due to the lack of moisture. But also the temperature shift from brooding heat in the summer to chilling cold in the winter is a great challenge for our skin. The self-protecting functions of the skin decrease and it dries out, as the natural moisture in the skin evaporates faster. As soon as the temperature drops below 8 ° C, the organism restricts the skin’s own production of sebum. The circulation also subsides in many parts of the body, causing the pores to contract in order to retain the heat in the body. The result is dry, flaky skin as well as irritation and redness.

What products and ingredients to use then? Hyaluronic acid works best in different chain lengths so that it penetrates the skin at different depths and cushions superficial and deeper wrinkles and wrinkles. Oils, especially those containing argan extract, jojoba, almond or macadamia nut oil, are particularly suitable for the needs of dry, brittle and powerless skin. The vitamins contained in them deeply nourish, strengthen the lipid barrier and thus prevent moisture loss.

For sensitive skin, facial masks are a go-to! They complement your daily skincare routine and have a soothing effect. Use once or twice a week, same goes for a scrub. Since the skin tends to dry in winter, it cannot renew itself sufficiently compared to well-moisturized skin. Experts also recommend using the power of essential oils to give the skin extra nutrients.

Body oils are a fantastic pampering treatment when they are applied directly to moist skin after showering or bathing and are rubbed in gently. This stimulates the blood circulation and gives the skin an “intensive protection” against moisture loss.

Just as important as facial and body care is the care of the hands. They particularly suffer in the winter months, as they cannot produce their own skin fat. Similar to the body lotion, the hands should be spoiled with a richer cream. In the evening apply this thick and cover cotton gloves and wake up in the morning with soft hands.

What is often forgotten, is the intensive hair care in the cold season. From the summer months, the hair is often strained by the sunlight as well as by chlorine and salt water. Nurturing shampoo, a deep conditioning treatment for the hair and scalp should be applied regularly to ensure the great look of your hair.

Curling Those Lashes

Sometimes we’re so busy with our skincare routine that we forget to lay the right foundations for our makeup! Curling your lashes is one of the often-overlooked steps, which can make a huge difference to your eye makeup. With the classic contraptions used to curl your lashes it might seem a bit intimidating at first, but rest assured, here are some ways to make sure that your lashes get the TLC they need…

Makeup Tips w/Missy – The Deep-Set Eyes

Don’t know whether you have deep-set eyes? Are your eyes sunk into the sockets, or are your lids heavy with a prominent browbone? When you look straight at yourself in the mirror with your eyes open, does your eyelid seem to disappear? You have deep-set eyes.

Apply a light shimmery shadow to your lid from lash line to crease (DON’T GO ABOVE YOUR CREASE!) The light color and the shimmer will bring your lid forward. You don’t want to bring your browbone forward or you’ll really make your eyes look sunken in. Use a matte shadow two shades darker than your skin tone to blend into your crease, keeping the emphasis on the outer corners of the eyes. Draw eyeliner along the upper lash line to just past the outer corner. Keep this line fine so you don’t lose lid space! Or try tight-lining. If applying liner to bottom lash line keep the emphasis on the outer corner coming in only one-third of the way. Now curl those lashes and apply 2-3 coats of mascara!
